Malala Yousufzai
UPDATE: Malala is receiving treatment in the UK at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, with a favorable chance for survival...except that their have been security threats made against her even as she clings to life by the Taliban which has threatened to attempt to kill her again if she recovers. No doubt, there are Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operatives, both active and sleeper, in the UK as well as lone individuals who share their savage and murderous goals. Security is tight, and Scotland Yard is looking into the backgrounds of many attempted visitors claiming to be family members.
All my heroes are dead or fictional... except for this young girl, who is fighting for her life right now, ALL BECAUSE SHE STOOD UP FOR HER RIGHTS.
Malala Yousufzai, a 14 year old Pakistani girl, was shot in the head by the Taliban in an an attempt to assassinate her as she rode the bus to school .Two other girls were also shot.Malala had been speaking out for years in a blog about life under the Taliban, a group of cowardly thugs who have no problem ordering hits on children as well as killing airline stewardesses and flying planes into buildings full of innocent people.
The list of their evil deeds is long and written in blood.
***Mulla Fazlullah, you shall be buried beside your king Osama in an unknown box at the bottom of the deepest sea. ***
And before anyone goes off on Islam, please take a look at the faith of the girl who bravely stood up to this group of cowardly low class filth... she is also Muslim, as are over a BILLION of peaceful people...it's a shame the Taliban is still around on this green planet we all share. Deny the Taliban's right to exist as they deny the rights of BILLIONS to live in peace.

it seems this horrific murder inspired an anti-taliban backlash in pakistan. good. those prolapsed assholes ought to be number one on EVERYONE'S enemy list.
She is my hero also and she is an angel sent to aid those who can not help themselves.
@complicatedlight - while we go after al queada, we largely ignore the widespread movement that empowers and employs them. i always knew those assholes were no good back when they toppled those ancient Buddhist statues.
@aaronmcnees - yes. a despicable act.
fundamentalism...
that is awful
@Grannys_Place - I totally agree!
sad news...
(i saw this photo in fb earlier (LINK), and i didn't know what was it about, but after reading this... wow, it is so sad...
People who are anti-Muslim ignore the fact that the Taliban persecute people of the Muslim faith the most. That kind of racism makes me mad. I've read a lot about this girl. She survived and likely will survive, but I wonder how this will change her. As you say, any organization that can organize a hit on a little girl is beyond sick. I'd also add that I see a lot of woman hating on Xanga. Maybe this can give people an example of where that kind of thing leads. She is my hero too. Good blog.
I take it back. They originally said she would survive, but I just read that she has brain swelling, and now they think it unlikely she will. I'm heartbroken.
Given the appeasement pocliy we are tacitly supporting with militant Islam around the world, I very much doubt that the current administration would make such a move. It would be lovely if they did. Look at how kids here in the states throw away their education and this girl gave her life for hers. If Al Gore can get a Nobel over a woman that saved over 2000 jewish children from concentration camps then, I don't put a lot of faith in the value of the prize anyway. It is all political.
